Color negative film - During exposure, three separate latent images are formed. There is only one development, which is completed by bleaching out the unwanted silver to leave three color dye images on the negative (blue, green, and red). The three transparent layers of film combine to give an image that is reversed in tone and color. It has a distinct orange appearance designed to compensate for color distortions that would otherwise occur in printing.
